The stadium at the centre of Glasgow's Commonwealth Games bid is to be expanded, according to new plans.

Glasgow City Council is expected to approve plans to incorporate a 2,000-seat velodrome into its flagship National Indoor Arena.

The sports complex in the east end of the city will form the focal point of the 2014 Commonwealth Games bid.

The facility, near Celtic Park, will also be the base for sportscotland, the national sports agency.

A report on the velodrome and an approved 4m of additional work to be done on the complex's design will go before the council's executive committee on Friday.
