The technology allows passengers to be online during their journey |
A fleet of buses operating between Fife and Edinburgh has been fitted with wi-fi network technology. Stagecoach has installed devices on 38 of its vehicles to enable passengers to stay online by using their laptops.
The bus company said it invested in the technology so it could target business travellers commuting into the capital.
The same wi-fi link will also be used to enable managers to pinpoint the exact locations of each of the buses using global positioning software.
The technology will be available on six express routes which operate across the Forth Road Bridge.
Doug Fleming, managing director of Stagecoach East Scotland, said: "The response from passengers has been extremely positive and we are seeing more and more people ditch the car for the coach."
