ASBO's are issued when unruly behaviour persists in a community
A 15-year-old boy has been given an Anti-social Behaviour Order (Asbo) in Midlothian for causing trouble in the Bonnyrigg area.

Midlothian Council has been granted the interim Asbo which imposes a home curfew from 2100 BST to 0700 BST and restricts access to certain streets.

He has also been banned from the local library, leisure centre and high school.

Another condition is that he cannot buy or drink alcohol in the area.

Adam Montgomery, Midlothian Council Leader, said: "We have a clear responsibility to the local communities across Midlothian to take decisive action against the small number of people who cause frequent disruption alongside unacceptable behaviour.

"This order sends a clear message that action will be taken against persistent offenders."

'Protect people'

Cllr Danny Molloy, Midlothian Council's cabinet member for social work, health and housing, said: "Midlothian Council is committed to tackling anti-social behaviour and takes very seriously its responsibility to protect people from the unnecessary alarm and distress this type of behaviour causes.

"In situations like this the council tries to support the individual to dissuade them from antisocial behaviour but if there is no response and the situation continues, we are committed to using the antisocial behaviour legislation appropriately."
