Tories 'can get more Scots MPs'

David Mundell
Tories must seek to increase their MPs, says David Mundell

Tories can increase the number of parliamentarians in the next UK election, Scotland's only Conservative MP has declared.

David Mundell's comments came as he put the party on an election footing at the Scottish Tory conference, in Perth.

The shadow Scottish secretary said the Tories were ready to step up to the mark and form the next government.

Mr Mundell went on to attack the SNP, saying it had failed to deliver in government for Scotland.

Focussed

He told delegates that Holyrood ministers had not seen through plans to deliver lower class sizes, student debt abolition and local income tax.

Turning to his own party, the Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale MP said: "Our efforts in the months immediately ahead must be focussed on one thing - increasing the number of Scottish MPs at Westminster

"If people want to change, if they want a change of Government at Westminster, then the only way to achieve that is to vote Conservative."
