Former Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy is to headline the third Festival of Politics at Holyrood.

The MP is one of this year's main speakers, along with BBC broadcaster Kate Adie.

Chefs Tony Singh and Clarissa Dickson-Wright, Scottish photographer Harry Benson, and photojournalist Kieran Dodds will also take part.

Thousands of visitors attend the annual event at the Scottish Parliament, which takes place from 24 to 26 August.

Mr Kennedy will take part in an audience discussion about his career as an MP and leader of the Lib Dems.

We look forward, once again, to welcoming people to the parliament to hear from a fascinating line up of well known faces

Presiding Officer

Ms Adie will talk about her experience as the BBC's Chief News Correspondent, which saw her report from some of the world's most dangerous locations.

There will also be a debate about obesity and Scottish attitudes to food, as well as the popular World Press Photo Exhibition.

Holyrood Presiding Officer Alex Fergusson said: "Over the last two years the Festival of Politics has proven to be a great success.

"A welcome addition to the Edinburgh festivals' calendar, it has attracted thousands of visitors into the building to engage in open discussion and debate.

"We look forward, once again, to welcoming people to the parliament to hear from a fascinating line up of well known faces from the worlds of politics, media and the arts, to visit our international photographic exhibition and to enjoy exploring all aspects of political life."
