Soldier's mother in No 10 protest
Rose Gentle
Rose Gentle has campaigned against the war in Iraq
The mother of a Scottish soldier who was killed in Iraq is planning to camp outside Downing Street for 24 hours.

Rose Gentle will protest against the decision not to give aid to families who are trying to take legal action against Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Mrs Gentle's son Gordon was killed by a roadside bomb in Basra in June 2004.

She recently protested in the US alongside another bereaved mother, Cindy Sheehan, who camped outside President Bush's Texas home in August.

Mrs Gentle and other British women who have lost sons in the conflict intend to set up a peace camp near Downing Street on Tuesday afternoon.

They have mounted a legal challenge against the government's refusal to hold an independent inquiry into the war's legality.

Their protest was also about the refusal to grant them legal aid, Mrs Gentle said.
