Soldier's mother joins US rally
Rose Gentle
Rose Gentle has campaigned against the war
A mother whose 19-year-old son was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq has taken part in an anti-war demonstration in Washington DC.

Rose Gentle, from Glasgow, marched with Cindy Sheehan, who sparked peace vigils across the US last month.

Mrs Gentle, whose son Gordon died in Basra, said the anti-war movement in America was gathering momentum.

It coincided with a demo, in London's Hyde Park, addressed by the Scottish Socialist Party leader Colin Fox.

Actress Jane Fonda was also due at the protest in the US, while Mrs Gentle's daughter Maxine, 15, travelled to the show of strength in England.

The Washington rally was the culmination of campaigning by Ms Sheehan, whose 24-year-old son was killed in Sadr City.

She began her protest by camping outside President Bush's holiday home in Texas last month.
