Event organisers say the last of the tickets for the three-week event, which will bring the Queen's Golden Jubilee tour to a close, were sold on Monday afternoon. The Queen will attend the event and take the salute on 5 August.
The Tattoo will run in the Scottish capital from 2-24 August. It will feature 600 musicians and what is being described as the largest gathering of Highland dancers. The 1,200-strong line-up is believed to be the largest cast assembled for the event. The Tattoo will also be seen by a worldwide television audience estimated at 100 million. The event, which began in 1950, is the Army's contribution to Edinburgh's International Festival. Edinburgh's Lord Provost Eric Milligan has said that since it was the Queen's Jubilee year the event would be "a colour spectacular". | See also: 24 Jul 02 | Scotland 19 Jul 02 | Entertainment 21 Mar 02 | Entertainment 24 Jul 01 | Scotland 10 Mar 00 | Scotland Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Top Scotland stories now: Links to more Scotland stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
