Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg has said he may be forced to abandon the party's flagship policy of scrapping university tuition fees in England and Wales.
Mr Clegg told his party's annual conference the UK will need to make ''bold and savage'' cuts to public spending after the next election, given the size of the country's debt.
