Gordon Brown has said he is concentrating on the economic downturn and rebuilding public trust in politics, a day after unveiling his new cabinet.
The prime minister, in France for events to mark the 65th anniversary of the D-Day landings, said he would not be diverted by speculation about his future and remains focused on "the task at hand".
