The former Home Secretary David Blunkett has warned the Prime Minister that there has been a "catastrophic meltdown of trust" in politics because of the row over MPs' expenses.
Mr Blunkett has also told Gordon Brown that he cannot afford any more "self-inflicted" wounds if Labour is to stay in power.
