The clean-up operation is under way in Swindon's Lydiard Park after more than 40,000 music fans gathered for the Radio 1 Big Weekend.

Radio 1 controller Andy Parfitt said the event had been an unqualified success and the BBC was really pleased.

"It's been a magical couple of days for the DJs and people of Swindon," said Mr Parfitt.

There were 20 arrests for a range of offences, including possession of drugs, assault and theft.
