Swindon Town Football Club has escaped a closure order after confirming a late VAT bill has been settled. The insolvency order, made in August by HM Revenue and Customs, was the second the club has faced this year.
In January, the club defaulted on a �600,000 VAT bill, which was eventually paid by its benefactor Sir Seton Wills and the property firm St Modwen.
It is unclear how the current bill was paid. A club spokesman said: "I'm not aware of the details."
The club is currently working on a proposal for rebuilding the town centre stadium, the County Ground.
A planned new stadium at Shaw Community Forest site was rejected after public opposition.
