'Unpleasant' distraction burglary
A woman and child pretending to be in distress helped con an elderly woman in a distraction burglary.

The resident opened her door to a woman who said she had been beaten up by her boyfriend. A man then forced his way in and pushed the resident to the ground.

The burglars stole cash and a pension book. The victim, who is in her 80s, hurt her elbow during the fall.

Police described the burglary in Derry Hill, Chippenham on 17 November as "particularly unpleasant".

The female offender was described as white, aged between 20 and 30, about 5ft tall, heavily built with dark brown hair in a ponytail and wearing a blue anorak and jeans.

The girl was also white, aged between eight and 10 years old and slim.

The man was described as white, in his 20s, about 5ft to 5.5ft tall, with fair hair and a pale complexion.

Det Con Andy Beavan said: "The results of this case could have been much worse and it is imperative that these offenders are quickly caught before serious injuries are caused to any other vulnerable members of our community."
