Vandals cause electricity outage
More than 1,000 customers lost their electricity supply after vandals damaged poles carrying high-voltage cables in West Yorkshire.

CE Electric UK, the region's electricity distributor, had to cut power in Knottingley while it repaired the damage.

The company has appealed for public help to stop the "dangerous acts of vandalism which could cost lives".

The wooden poles, carrying 11,000-volt cables, were damaged twice in a week.

The firm said: "The vandals are putting their own lives and the lives of other people at risk due to their actions."
