Drive for safer Christmas buses
Bus travel in the West Midlands is set to become safer for passengers over Christmas with a police operation to tackle crime on the network.

Extra police patrols will take place on popular bus routes and at peak times across the region.

Uniformed and plain clothes officers will aim to tackle anti-social behaviour, said police.

Police will also support inspectors on Travel West Midlands' buses in checking tickets.

Insp Ian Grundy said: "We want people to come to Birmingham and feel safe using the city's excellent public transport network."

Phil Bateman, spokesman for Travel West Midlands, said: "We have a proud record of working to create a trouble-free environment on our buses for both customers and staff."
