Airport 'threat to house prices'
Birmingham Airport
Opinions are divided over expansion plans for the airport
Residents say thousands of pounds have been wiped off the value of their homes by plans to add a second runway at Birmingham International Airport.

The public are being asked for their views on expansion at the site. Businesses say growth will create thousands of jobs and help the economy.

People living in Catherine de Barnes say their homes have been blighted.

John Morris, from the airport, said that if the runway does go ahead it will not be before 2020.

The Woodland Trust said more than 22 hectares (55 acres) of ancient woodland are under threat from the plans.

It said seven hectares (17 acres) could be cut back "as a matter of convenience", after being branded an obstacle to aircraft in Birmingham airport's expansion plans.

Ed Pomfret, from the trust, said: "We have a matter of days to let the airport owners know that these proposals are unacceptable to anyone who believes our natural world should be protected.

"We are asking everyone to take time out to write in to try to block these destructive plans and protect threatened woodland."

Responses to the airport plan have to be made by 31 March.
