Any money raised will go to Tushar Makwana's young family |
A special tribute and charity event is being held to raise money for the family of a DJ who died after confronting burglars outside his home. Tushar Makwana, who was a presenter on West Midlands radio station Heart FM, died in February after he was run over by the raiders as they escaped.
Birmingham reggae band UB40 are hosting a preview for fans of their latest DVD followed by an exclusive party.
All the proceeds will go to Mr Makwana's widow and three children.
'Sadly missed'
One of the founder members of UB40, Astro, says they are happy to help because they counted Mr Makwana as a friend.
He added: "Tushar is sadly missed and I still can't believe it actually happened.
"He left behind a wife and three small children and they're going to need all the help they can get.
"If we can help in any shape or form, then we're more than willing to."
More than 300 mourners turned out for the funeral of Mr Makwana, 37, who was injured outside his home in Castle Bromwich.
He died in hospital on 12 February, three days after the incident.
