Violence follows football match
Officers and stewards were pelted with missiles including glass bottles and bricks outside Stoke City's ground.

Trouble began at the Britannia Stadium in Stoke-on-Trent at the end of a match between Stoke and Hull City when Hull scored a late equaliser.

Supporters in the Lower West Stand began trying to rip up seats and abusing stewards.

The violence continued outside the ground and police used batons and CS spray. Ten people were arrested.

A police spokesman said the majority of those arrested for violent disorder were Stoke City fans. They have now been released on police bail.

"We are appalled that a group of criminals decided to involve themselves in such behaviour.

"Ordinary, decent supporters must have been frightened by the actions of those involved."

Police would be looking at CCTV pictures of the trouble and said they expected to make more arrests.

They would also be seeking banning orders for the fans, the spokesman added.

"What an appalling way to approach the end of the season," he said.

No-one was seriously injured during the trouble.

At least 17,109 people attended the match with 1,800 of them away fans.
