Emergency treatment figure rises
The number of people turning up for emergency treatment at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire has increased, its annual report shows.

Almost 130,000 arrived for emergency help over the past year, 6,000 more than the previous 12 months.

The Stoke-on-Trent hospital said it is disappointed with the number of operations cancelled at short notice.

But it is pleased that there are more highly-skilled nurses and a dedicated ward for stroke patients.
