Gopeds should not be driven on roads and pavements |
Teenagers using motorised scooters in Staffordshire face a clampdown after complaints from residents. The "gopeds" have been a popular Christmas present for children this year but can only be used legally on private property.
People in Cheslyn Hay and Great Wyrley, near Cannock, say children there are causing a nuisance with them.
Staffordshire Police said parents should be aware that action will be taken against children.
They said the machines do not meet EC regulations and should not be driven on roads and pavements.
Police added that many parents are buying gopeds as gifts for children without realising they should not be used by anyone under the age of 16.
