Newcastle-under-Lyme's crematorium has been named as the best in Britain for the second year in a row. The facility on Chatterley Close in Bradwell won the top prize in the crematorium category at the Cemetery of the Year Awards.
The winners, which were picked from nearly 50 candidates, were announced at a ceremony in Harrogate on Thursday.
For the first time in the history of the competition, two of the entrants were pet cemeteries.
Amenities manager for Newcastle borough council Dave Adams said: "We're really delighted. It's something perhaps we didn't really expect, so it was a real bonus when we found out we'd won.
"The judges said some very positive things about the crematorium.
"They mentioned particularly the outstanding grounds and horticultural maintenance. and the design of the floral displays."
