Girl given wheelchair by Beckhams
A 16-year-old Staffordshire girl has been given a new electric wheelchair by David and Victoria Beckham.

Nicola Haigh, from Leek, is one of eight youngsters the superstar couple have helped with a 35,000 donation to the Action For Kids Charitable Trust.

The teenager's mother, Sonia, said she received the news in a phone call from Mrs Beckham's mother, Jackie Adams.

Mrs Haigh said the family also received a signed photograph of the Real Madrid midfielder and his pop star wife.

Beckham was the world's best paid footballer in 2003, with estimated earnings of more than 20m.

The Action For Kids Charitable Trust provides help and support to physically and mentally disabled young people across the UK.
