A couple whose two-year-old son was one of eight people to die in a car crash last year have had a baby boy. Stephen and Tracy Mohabir's son Marcus was killed in the four-vehicle pile-up on the A23 in Sussex last May.
The couple from Godalming in Surrey, found out they were having another baby on the day of Marcus' funeral. They have called their new son Max.
The crash, at Pyecombe, near Brighton, happened when a BMW crashed through the central reservation into oncoming cars.
'Over the moon'
Ambulance service workers described the crash as one of the most horrific they had seen, and witnesses were offered counselling.
Five people in the BMW, all aged between 17 and 20, died in the collision.
Mr Mohabir, 36, and Marcus were in a Land Rover Freelander hit by the BMW, along with friends of the family Toby and Kate Beasley, who were also killed.
Mr Mohabir suffered a broken leg and elbow and internal injuries.
His wife, 39, was at a wedding and was not involved in the crash.
When the couple announced in August they were expecting a baby, Mr Mohabir said: "No one will ever replace Marcus, and we are still coming to terms with what has happened.
"But we are over the moon that Tracy is expecting."
Sussex Police said investigating officers were working with the coroner and bereaved relatives in an attempt to arrange a date for an inquest.
