 Another man remains seriously ill in hospital |
Eight people including a toddler who died in a crash near Brighton on Sunday have been named by police. Five of the victims were in a BMW which crossed the central reservation.
They were Aaron Sharpe, 20, Mitch Treliving, 19, Katherine Sharpe, 18, Danielle Billingham 17, and Gemma Smoker, 17, all from the Crawley area.
Kate and Toby Beasley, both 30, from Godalming in Surrey and two-year-old Marcus Mohabir, all in a Land Rover Freelander hit by the BMW, also died.
The collision happened at about 1630 BST on Sunday, while the A23, the main route north from Brighton, was busy with traffic heading away from the coast on a sunny afternoon.
Sussex Police said the driver of the BMW had appeared to have lost control, with the car crossing the central reservation into the path of the Freelander, which was travelling in the opposite direction.
The five occupants of the BMW died at the scene and Mr Beasley, who had been a passenger in the Freelander, also died on Sunday.
His wife and the two-year-old boy also in the Freelander died on Monday.
Another man who had been in the vehicle with them remained seriously ill in hospital on Tuesday.
Gemma and Katherine both worked at Signatures Hair Studio in Three Bridges, near Crawley, and studied hairdressing together at Crawley College.
