Race still on after safety fears
One of the world's oldest classic horse races will go ahead as planned in Doncaster after the discovery of asbestos sparked safety fears.

The material was found in the Yorkshire Stand at Doncaster Racecourse leading to concerns that the St Leger would not be able to be held on 10 September.

A Doncaster Council spokesman said the stand was "safe" and that there "was no immediate risk to the public".

It hopes to redevelop the racecourse, making it a "world class facility".
