Pupils take walking bus to school
A "walking bus" to encourage children to walk to and from school is being launched in Sheffield.

From Wednesday, up to 18 pupils at Wincobank Nursery Infant School will be supervised by adults who will take them along an agreed route.

The children will be dropped off and picked up by their parents at stops along the way.

They will be wearing special tabards provided by local driving instructors to make them more visible.

Councillor Terry Fox, Sheffield Council's cabinet member for transport and the environment, said everyone should benefit from the supervised walks.

"They not only reduce the number of cars on the road doing the school run, but they ensure the children are escorted and get some fresh air and exercise at the same time," he said.
