The Queen and Prince Philip have begun their visit to Sheffield It is the first time the the Queen has visited the city for ten years.
The couple are in Sheffield to officially open the Winter Garden.
But the royal visit is beginning with the official opening of Fir Vale School.
As the finishing touches were added to the plaque Her Majesty will unveil, head teacher Hugh Howe spoke of the school's pride.
He told BBC Look North: "Two weeks ago when the pupils heard about the visit they were absolutely amazed about what was going to happen.
"Since then there's been a huge buzz about the school and a huge amount of excitement," Mr Howe added.

Fir Vale School was known as the Earl Marshall School when it faced closure six years ago.
But since re-opening in a new building, under its new name, the school has been hailed as one of the best in the country.
After the royal couple open the school, they will travel to the Millennium Galleries in Arundel Gate.
The Queen and Prince Philip will then visit the Winter Garden, before undertaking a walkabout in the Peace Gardens.
Cause for 'celebration'
Lunch in the Town Hall is next on their itinerary, before making an appearance on the balcony facing Pinstone Street.
The leader of Sheffield City Council, Jan Wilson, said: "This visit is a cause for celebration.
"I am certain people from across the city will want to join me in offering a very warm Sheffield welcome on the day of the visit."
