Details have been announced of the best places to see the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh during their visit to Sheffield next Thursday.

The Queen and Prince Philip are coming to the city to officially open the Winter Garden.

But the visit will begin with the official opening of Fir Vale School before moving to the city centre.

At 1125 BST the Queen and the Duke will arrive at the Millennium Galleries in Arundel Gate which they will visit before moving into the Winter Garden.

Royal walkabout

At 1200 BST they leave the Winter Garden and undertake a walkabout in the Peace Gardens.

They will then go into the Town Hall where they will have lunch and will make an appearance on the balcony facing Pinstone Street at about 1220 BST.

The couple are due to leave the Town Hall on their way out of the city at 1415 BST.

The leader of Sheffield City Council, Jan Wilson, said: "This visit is a cause for celebration.

"I am certain people from across the city will want to join me in offering a very warm Sheffield welcome on the day of the visit."
