Thousands took part in a protest in Bridgnorth last weekend
A petition containing almost 10,000 signatures has been handed to health chiefs in Shropshire calling on them not to close Whitchurch Hospital.

Plans have been put forward to shut Whitchurch and other community hospitals in Ludlow and Bridgnorth.

Thousands of people took to the streets of the Shropshire towns last weekend to protest at the proposals, including an estimated 3,000 to 4,000 in Bridgnorth.

The NHS in Shropshire is facing a deficit of �55m.
