Council vote on Gay Meadow future
Gay Meadow during flooding
The Gay Meadow pitch has flooded regularly
The future of Shrewsbury Town's football ground could be decided on Monday when councillors meet to vote on a covenant protecting the ground.

The covenant is designed to stop a developer selling the club and building on the Gay Meadow land.

Planning permission has already been granted for 150 houses on the site and cabinet members have voted to move the covenant to the club's new site.

But that decision has been called in for review.

The call in committee is asking the cabinet to review its decision but this is only a recommendation which will be voted on by councillors on Monday night.

If the cabinet backs the earlier vote to move the covenant, Councillor Mansell Williams, one of the opponents, says a challenge in the courts is highly likely.
