Residents oppose plans for mast
Phone mast
Phone masts have sparked protests across the country
Villagers in north Shropshire are fighting plans to erect a 60ft high communications tower near their homes.

Mobile phone company O2 has won the backing of the district's head of planning to erect the mast in Hodnet.

But plans to erect the mast at the Old Goods Yard at Station Road still have to be approved by councillors.

Nearly 100 residents are objecting to the mast saying they are worried it could cause a health hazard and would spoil the landscape.

The site is next to another communications mast and the council's head of planning says after considering all options, it is the best place for it.

His report goes before councillors on Wednesday.

It says there is no evidence to support the villagers' claims that their health could be endangered.
