2m cancer unit to open
More than 200 people visited a hospital in Shrewsbury to take a first look at a new 2m cancer unit.

The Rainbow Island ward at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital was open for viewings over the weekend.

It is due to officially open in one month and will care for children suffering with cancer.

The Lingen Davies Cancer Charity helped to raise the funds needed to open the centre.

Fundraiser, Eryl Williams said the money had been raised with a lot of help from the public.

Alison Davis-Friend, whose daughter was diagnosed with cancer at nine months old said she was astounded by the public's generosity.

"We would have never believed that we could ever get enough money to get the centre up and running in under two years," she said.

"It will make such a difference."
