A lifeboat crew were called out to rescue Mr Rutter |
A Shropshire man has had to be rescued by coastguards for the second time in a month after getting into difficulty off the Welsh coast. John Rutter, from Little Dawley, was a mile off the Aberystwyth coast when the engine of his 12 foot inflatable boat "Shell Shock" failed just after 1500 BST on Tuesday.
The 45-year-old, who was carrying two children and another adult in the boat, fired a flare to attract the attention of a friend on the shore which went unseen.
Two holidaymakers from Wolverhampton spotted the flare and went to his aid in their 10 foot inflatable boat but their engine also failed.
A lifeboat crew from Aberystwyth had been called and was able to rescue both boats and tow them to shore.
Mr Rutter had to be rescued by the lifeboat crew earlier in June when his engine once again failed.
