Dinghy boy 'lucky to be alive'
Lifeboat
The 10-year-old had to be rescued after his dinghy overturned
Coastguard officials say a Derby boy is lucky not to have drowned after being rescued from a toy dinghy off the Lincolnshire coast.

It happened at Chapel St Leonards when Jack MacDonald, a 10-year-old non-swimmer from Alvaston, got into difficulty when his dinghy overturned.

He was rescued, but his mother suffered what is thought to be a panic attack while watching the drama and collapsed on the beach.

She was taken to hospital with her son, and both are now said to be alright.

Inflatables warning

Peter Wheeler, from the Yarmouth coastguard which covers the county's coast, said: "These inflatables are extremely dangerous and we hate them but they'll always be there.

"What we would like people to do is not use them at all - but they will.

"So we would like to get the message across - that if you are going to go on an inflatable try and only do it when the wind is blowing on-shore because they react so quickly to the wind."
