Television viewers in Oxfordshire who have experienced problems with their TV signal on Freeview may not see an improvement until May.

Digital UK is carrying out maintenance on the television mast at Beckley in preparation for the digital switchover, due in 2011.

The company has said the work is essential and is taking longer than expected because of cabling problems.

Digital UK had hoped the work would be completed by the start of April.

The BBC has received many inquiries from viewers, some who have bought new equipment after suffering signal loss.

A spokesman for Digital UK has apologised for the inconvenience caused to viewers.

Channels worst affected include ITV 1 and 2, Channel 4, E4 and Five.
