The route is the only between Oxford and Didcot for some villages |
A rural bus service has reopened after local people successfully campaigned against plans to have it scrapped. The 107 Didcot to Oxford service, via Ladygrove, Long Wittenham and Clifton Hampden, began in 2003 and is the only service to Oxford for some villages.
After a public outcry, Oxfordshire County Council transport managers granted a reprieve to the service.
From Monday the 107 service, with easy-access low floors buses, will return with an hourly service.
Councillor David Robertson, the county council's executive member for roads and transport, said: "I am delighted that we have been able to reinstate this bus service.
"It has been sorely missed by local people. We have also taken the opportunity to divert the service to Didcot Parkway Railway station following a request from Long Wittenham Parish Council. "
