Inquest into double BBQ killing
The scene of the shooting
Two women were killed and one critically injured in the incident
The inquest into the deaths of two sisters shot at a family barbecue in a village has been opened and adjourned.

During the hearing police confirmed they had formally identified Vicky Horgan, 27, and Emma Walton, 25, who died on Sunday at Highmoor Cross, Oxon.

Mrs Horgan was shot in the head and died in the garden of her home while Ms Walton, from Reading, died later in hospital from a shot to the stomach.

Mrs Horgan's estranged husband Stuart has been charged with murdering them.

Inquest adjourned

Their mother Jacqueline Walton, 55, is still fighting for her life in hospital.

Coroner's officer Henry Wymbs told the three-minute hearing that Mrs Horgan was married to, but separated from unemployed bricklayer Stuart Horgan.

"On Sunday June 6 at about 1630 BST, the deceased, together with other members of the family, were in the garden of 2, The Glebe, Highmoor Cross, when a man entered the property with a firearm and shot both of the deceased," Mr Wymbs said.

Oxfordshire coroner Nicholas Gardiner adjourned the inquest to an unspecified later date.
