A 39-year-old man charged with the murder of his estranged wife and her sister at a weekend family barbecue has been remanded in custody.

Vicky Horgan, 27, and her sister, Emma Walton, 25, died of gunshot wounds on Sunday in Highmoor Cross, Oxfordshire.

Their mother Jacqueline is still critically ill in hospital.

Stuart Horgan, 39, of no fixed address, appeared at Oxford Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with two murders and one attempted murder.

Mr Horgan was remanded in custody and the case was transferred to Oxford Crown Court on 17 June for a preliminary hearing.
