Water levels were steady on Friday but more rain is on the way |
Sandbags have been issued to people living in part of Nottinghamshire because of concerns over flooding. About 1,000 sandbags were delivered to Lowdham, which was flooded in the summer. A further 500 Sandbags were delivered to the village of Girton.
But flood warnings have been stood down on the River Trent at Beeston, Holme Pierrepoint and Barton in Fabis.
The risk of flooding at Lenton, Dunkirk and Castle Meadow Retail Park has also been reduced to a flood watch.
Newark and Sherwood District Council has readied a further 500 sandbags and a team will be working over the weekend to fill more.
Police have urged residents, particularly children, to avoid wading through flooded areas as the water may be contaminated.
More rain is forecast for the weekend with the heaviest showers expected on Sunday.
