A protest is to be held outside Nottinghamshire's only all-girls comprehensive in the hope of saving it from proposed closure. The Manning Girls School for Aspley may be forced to shut under plans being considered by the city council.
On Thursday schoolchildren will be handing out leaflets and waving banners to highlight their campaign.
Teachers say the school, where half the pupils are non-white, plays a vital role in a multicultural city.
Final decision
But many parents says the campaign is not just about faith issues but also about the standard of education the school provides.
The city council has said a public consultation's currently under way and no final decision has yet been made.
A 135m revamp would see, among other changes, Bulwell's two secondary schools merging and Aspley's Manning School and Fairham Community College in Clifton closing.
A final decision is expected in July.
