Start of term delayed by repairs
Fire crews at Wheldon School
Crews tackled the fire in December 2002
Some pupils at a Nottingham school damaged by fire have been told not to go back to school because building work has not been finished on time.

Repairs are still being carried out on buildings used by lower school pupils at the Wheldon School in Carlton.

Pupils in years 10, 11, 12 and 13 are due to go back to class on Tuesday.

Lessons are being taught in temporary classrooms after an arson attack in December 2002, with the new buildings set to be complete in September.

More than 8m is being spent on rebuilding the site at Coningsworth Lane.

The school has also launched a bid to become a specialist sports college, raising 50,000 in local sponsorship.
