School reflects on 'difficult year'
Fire crews at Wheldon School
The fire happened a year ago
Students at a Nottingham school are still using temporary classrooms a year after the school was damaged by fire.

The main building at Wheldon Comprehensive, in Carlton, was destroyed after a fire on 16 December last year.

More than 8m is being spent on rebuilding the site at Coningsworth Lane.

In the past year, the school also launched a bid to become a specialist sports college, raising 50,000 in local sponsorship.

The new site should be ready by September next year.

Head teacher Callum Orr said: "It's been extremely difficult but people have been extremely positive.

"Staff and students have worked together to make sure that the education can continue as best as possible."

"In 2004, we will have a new school building and at that time it will be great to start as a specialist college... and for us, we hope it is going to be as a specialist sports college."
