Town's clean up scheme extended
Cleaning up graffiti in Mansfield
The clean up was expected to last just two weeks
A scheme to clean up areas of Mansfield has been extended into a third week.

The 90,000 scheme targets the so-called "Dirty 30" worst areas for grime litter and graffiti.

"Liveability Blitz" squads have targeted public and private sites in a scheme expected to last two weeks.

The extra week will be used to paint and spruce up a number of areas discovered since the blitz began, as well as adding more bins to the area.

Specialist contractors have also been drafted in to teach staff from Mansfield District Council how to use state-of-the-art graffiti-removal equipment.

The local authority has sent out letters to businesses in the town that have had their land cleaned, reminding them of their responsibility to keep their property clean and tidy in the future.

The council says it will name and shame companies which then fail to keep their premises in good order.
