More than 50 people have been fined under new littering laws introduced in a Nottinghamshire town. Nearly half of those were given fixed penalty notices of 50 for dropping rubbish in Mansfield.
The fines were introduced as part of a four-year plan to tackle the town's litter problem.
While many of the fines handed out are for dropping litter in the streets, five motorists have been fined for throwing rubbish from their vehicles.
About 30 of the fines were handed out for fly-tipping, council officials said.
