Teams move on litter blackspots
The fight against litter in the Mansfield area has been stepped-up, with the introduction of two specialist cleaning teams.

The so-called Grime-busters will operate in streets and public spaces in Mansfield Woodhouse and Warsop.

It is the latest in a series of high-profile schemes to tackle litter in the district.

The issue is a top priority for the mayor in his four-year plan and 300,000 has been set aside to deal with it.

Penalty notices

The local council has already handed out 11 on-the-spot fines to people caught dropping litter in the town centre.

Twenty-nine fixed penalty notices have also been issued for fly-tipping.

Now, in Mansfield Woodhouse and Warsop, cleaning teams will be responsible for removing things like litter, leaves and fly posters.

Four other teams will be launched in the next few weeks.
