A Nottinghamshire town is spending 300,000 on a campaign to improve its cleanliness. Mansfield has recently been criticised for its general appearance.
Now the district council is starting a major drive to improve street cleaning services, the disposal of waste and the removal of dog dirt.
The town's Mayor, Tony Eggington, said cleaning up Mansfield was one of his election pledges.
He vowed the clean-up campaign would be "pretty hard hitting".
The Idler magazine and website recently named Mansfield as one of the UK's worst towns, drawing an angry response from the council.
