Mixed day for local post offices
A post office has been saved from closure after a last minute reprieve.

The branch in Sherwood Rise, Nottingham is being retained because of a lack of alternative sites for customers.

Post Office Ltd said the branch's survival will depend on how many customers use it and confirmed two other city post offices will shut.

The Mansfield Road and Laurie Avenue branches are among more than 20 post offices county-wide to close as part of a modernisation programme.

Customers will be urged to use alternative post offices within a mile radius.

The company is encouraging local residents who campaigned to keep the Sherwood Rise branch open to make use of it as much as possible.
