Andy Zadora wants better access to the train station |
A disabled man from Nottingham is making an official complaint about the lack of wheelchair access to the city's train station. Andy Zadora, a wheelchair user, is annoyed he can not go straight from the tram stop to the railway station platform.
The station will be modified when the next stage of tram development starts.
But Mr Zadora feels this is not good enough, and is lodging a complaint with the Disability Rights Commission.
Plea for patience
He said: "The Disability Discrimination Act comes into force in six months' time, and whereas businesses have started actually to make inroads into giving everybody equal access, it appears that Central Trains are really not coming up with the goods."
The Disability Rights Commission is an official body employing lawyers who can force companies to comply with disability legislation.
Central Trains, which runs Nottingham Station, has asked disabled passengers to be patient.
Sharon Smith, one of the managers, said: "There's no provision at the moment because it is actually part of the greater Nottingham station master plan to incorporate the tram when it goes through to the East Side."
