Cold callers to face no-go zones
Elderly victim of crime
The scheme aims to give people confidence in their homes
Streets where elderly and vulnerable people have been targeted by doorstep traders are to become no-go zones for cold callers.

Six streets in south Northamptonshire will join the scheme to fight rogue traders and distraction burglaries.

The county council has put up signs, and stickers are being put on house windows to deter cold callers.

People are also being encouraged to phone the police if they have any suspicious callers at their house.

The scheme will take place in Westfield Avenue in Deanshanger, Dands Drive in Middleton Cheney, Ellesmere Avenue in Brackley, Lucas Road in Long Buckby, Riverside Drive in Weedon and Mounthill Avenue in Old Stratford.

Inspector Leonie Tromans said: "The scheme is an important support mechanism which we hope will give people more confidence to say 'no' to door-to-door callers.

"The simple message is if you are not expecting a caller and receive a knock at your door, do not open the door."
